Why...

Why is it that even when you think you're over someone, just seeing a picture of them can feel like a punch to the stomach? I hate that I'm an emotional person...

It's Been Awhile...

I know it's been awhile since I've posted. I promise to be a little more diligent in the future. I just haven't really felt like I've had much to say...I've been in a bit of a funk recently, and I'm just started to feel like myself again.

Here's my life over the past four months in a nutshell, just so you're all caught up. N and I broke up...and that REALLY sucked. I had a broken heart for a while after that. After three months of him continuously contacting me to maintain a "casual" friendship, I had to cut it off. Every time he called and texted, it was like re-opening the wound. So it's been about a month since I've spoken to him, and as much as that does suck, I've been a lot calmer because of that, and I've finally moved on.

I'm kind of doing three different jobs at work now, but of course still getting paid for one. So that is good in one way, but stressful time wise and financially.

On the home front, I got approved for a mortgage, but I haven't found a house I'm completely happy with, nor am I quite ready to go yet. I still want to pay off my Lasik surgery.

That's about it for now...I'll be back to write soon...

Craziness In Columbus - Priceless

Well, I know I haven't posted in a while, but I haven't really had much exciting to say lol. But I did have a really good trip to Columbus over the weekend with N. I had gotten him two tickets to see the Wings play the Blue Jackets and an overnight stay at the Crowne Plaza there for Christmas and it was finally time for the trip. We got off to a little bit of a late start, for one because N overslept and for two becaue I forgot my pants at home :-)

N's ex-girlfriend L from a long time ago was also going to the game with her boyfriend D, which was totally random and unexpected, but good to know someone else to party with while we were there. N and I went to dinner and had a few drinks before we met up with them and their six friends...who had all been at the bar for four hours. About five shots and a 32 oz. beer later, it was time to head to the game.

N and I sat in our section for the first period (after another 32 oz. beer), then snuck down to the 8th row for about half of the second period. We decided to go back to our seats, and were met by L and D standing in the consourse outside our section looking for us because they were bored and didn't want to sit anymore. The four of us decided to skip the rest of the game and just head to the bar (of course).

For the next three hours, we proceeded to take shot after shot, chased by copious amounts of beer. We really had a great time, watching the NCAA tournament and living it up on the dance floor. L and D were having such a great time without their other friends that they didn't to tell them where they were lol...then N and I stumbled back to the hotel to end the night.

Bar tab after DRW/CBJ Game (Wings won 4-0) - $200 (paid for in full by D - THANK YOU!!)
Tickets and hotel room in Columbus - $230
Having N join me on the dance floor for a drunken version of the Cupid Shuffle - Priceless

Down The Home Stretch...

Well, it's officially Radiothon time in my world. The last few weeks have definitely been filled with hard work, long hours, frustrating co-workers and the overwhelming feeling of tears right under my eyelides ready to be unleashed at any moment.

With sponsor fulfillment, an online auction with over 200 items that "fancy" descriptions, promo inclusion to be determined, logistics, signage, etc...my brain has definitely been on overload. Not to mention the countless additional projects that have taken residence on my desk that I haven't even looked at...

Alas, we're finally here...the Radiothon commenced at 5 a.m. this morning and ends at 12 Noon tomorrow. As soon as we go on the air, my job gets a lot easier...sure, there are always fires to put out, but the hardest parts of my job are completed.

All that's left for me is to kick off the karaoke contest, staff tomorrow morning and teardown. I can't wait to take a nap! :-)

What A Weird Week...

This week started off simply with a peaceful day off of work for MLK day, which was fine. Then, I had to go to a specialist (doctor) on Tuesday, who told me that he thinks I had e.coli food poisoning last week when I was really sick...which sounds terrible but is actually better than what any of the alternative diagnoses were.

Then, I went to see the movie "27 Dresses" with B and her mom, which was actually pretty decent. Predictable, of course...but there were some scenes that were funnier than I expected. If you see the movie, B and I were both crying through laughter when Elton John's classic "Benny And The Jets" was karaoked at the bar!

I haven't seen N since Monday for lunch, which sucks! He came down with the most severe strain of the flu on Wednesday and actually ended up in the hospital today, which definitely worried me. I can't go see him or take care of him because of my mom being on chemo. I can't bring ANY of that sickness home with me. So, he's home by himself, and it sucks that I can't help and I don't know when he'll be better enough to not be contagious...I miss him.

A few things are also weird at work too...lots of random assignments, more people out with the flu, the bottom falling out of one of our events and too much work to do for the radiothon...not a great day.

Anyway, tomorrow is TGIF...even though I have to work this weekend to prep for the radiothon, I'll be happy to see an end to this week.

Stupid Health Insurance Companies

I walked into work this morning supremely frustrated. Last night, I went to the pharmacy to pick up a monthly prescription, and I suddenly found out that my copay on it as of January 1st has risen from $25 to $40. Since I had of course not heard about any changes to my prescription coverage, this additional charge obviously surprised me (and not in a good way!).

I called my insurance company this morning, and the "friendly" customer service representative told me that the copay went up because "tier three, non-preferred" prescriptions now have a $40 copay...to which I replied,"Um...I don't know what that means." She helpfully retorted,"Tier three prescriptions went up in price."

Really?...Thanks for the insight.

So now, not only am I paying double for my health insurance through work because I make $1 too much each year to still fall in the lower contribution ranking...now my damn prescriptions are going up. Why, you ask? Because tier three, non-preferred prescriptions are now $40.

Great, thanks for making me throw additional money out the window that I don't have!

Tomorrow Is D-Day!

Well, tomorrow's the big day...our weight loss competition commences. It's only three of us...me, T and D. Prizes include a $100 gift certificate to Somerset Collection (for leader halfway through) and a $200 gift certificate to Somerset Collection. The competition ends on Tigers Opening Day.

I fully expect to win this competition. I was already on the "getting healthy" bandwagon for almost a week before this competition was announced, and I've taken the last few days off so I don't lose any additional weight before the first weigh in...

I definitely believe after my weight loss success last year, and my ability to follow the same program again, I'll have no problem picking right up where I left off. To me, this isn't about losing a certain amount of weight before Opening Day, this is about maintaining and increasing the weight loss I started last year. I'm definitely a happier person when I'm healthy and fit. I can't wait to start the summer looking better than I ended it last year. :-)

Wish me luck!
